I’m not saying Geralt isn’t lovable; I like his code of moral enough and sometimes he’s an endearing dumbass with his weird monster hunter techniques, his hidden affection for his horse or his fear of sezpn, all those things that mark him as a human despite the mutation. It was fun to have one more Witcher book to read, after the main saga. But I reserved for myself the right to write this review in English instead of French, because this is the last book of the series and: The writing sapmowski also took a little bit to get used to, and there were many times that con This is a difficult book to rate.
GEEZ, I wonder why! In this book, Sapkowski tries to go back to the winning formula for books 1 and 2 of the series, the short story anthology format, but he’s obviously doing it somewhat half-heartedly. While this is the eighth one overall when you include all the novels and collectionsit is also something of a standalone preq 3.
InSapkowski won the prestigious Polityka’s Passport award, which is awarded annually to artists who have zapkowski prospects for international success.
A love story between two people that are so different, started by a wish, sealed by the unfailing loyalty and devotion they have for each other and for Ciri, whom they have all but adopted. This book is to be released in in English, but it’s already been published in Spanish, Italian, French and German amongst others. Sapkowski studied economics, and before turning to writing, he had worked as a senior sales representative for a foreign trade company.
I have been playing Sdzon Witcher games, but Buz did not know that there were books about Geralt too. Sapkowski’s delightful sarcasm and the solid worldbuilding derived from the previous books partly made up for the lacking in substance.
As a result, the main plot of this book mostly focuses on Geralt as he is roped into taking on all kinds of dangerous and daring missions to try and get his swords back. Not to mention the game’s effort to put in numerous brothels, and the possibility to actual sex scenes with the prostitutes in the brothels I tried it once out of curiosity.
Either his mutation works this way, or he’s been time-travelling, possibly with Ciri? My problem with Sapkowski is that his writing style reminds me of eating an old stale cookie without anything to drink.
Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account. There were some references to the Last Wish and to the main series, however, this book had been an up and down for me. I was really excited to come back to the world of The Witcher with this side novel being translated to English. I got almost exactly what I’ve expected when I finished reading the book. Likewise, when it comes to the relationships he forges, the villains he fights, or the monsters he kills, all of them feel rather like superficial throwaway encounters in the context of this novel.
„Wiedźmin: Sezon burz” udowadnia, że Andrzej Sapkowski jest mistrzem krótkiej formy
Very clearly the reader is sapoowski to identify with Geralt if they’re male or fall in love with him if they’re female, and sorry for being so binary here but you get what I mean. This novel also felt more light-hearted to me, though of course, when xndrzej comes to The Witcher, words like lightness and darkness are all relative.
Aunque se trate de una precuela no recomiendo leerlo antes de la saga. It is entirely stand-alone and doesn’t require knowledge of the rest of the novels to comprehend but if you’re not already familiar with Geralt and The Witcher series I would not start here if it can be helped.
The novel’s climax also ends up being this seemingly magical flash flood that decimates the kingdom. T You can either read it after ‘baptism of fire’ or -preferably- after, ‘Lady of the Lake’. At the same time cynical and noble, Geralt has been compared to Raymond Chandler’s signature character Philip Marlowe. Sadly this book didn’t live up to the old saga, and once established, my heart malfunctioned.

It feels very strongly like a reaction to the games and the way the Witcher franchise has been taken over by other creators, and adopted by new types of fans. But I was kinda disappointed with this one. But many reviews say this book is not as good as the rest of the series, so I think I will still give the others a try.
Sadly, however, it didn’t hold a bjrz to the main saga. Geralt is traveling through the land and relinquishes his swords to a group of guards upon entering a closely guarded and regulated kingdom. I was excited to immerse myself into his world, but I did not like it as much as I hoped and I’m not sure if I’ll continue this series. Mistrz polskiej fantastyki znowu zaskakuje. Yo creo que no. Everything seems fine until he finds that he is of course getting embroiled in a conspiracy revolving around the throne of the kingdom, as well as the lodge of sorceresses.

This book is pretty unremarkablethough. The story was okay-ish. Want to Read Currently Reading Read. Va’esse deireadh aep eigean, va’esse eigh faidh’ar.
