Marillier rambled on about unnecessary details and i pprophecy i just could not read every word or i knew i’d never finish the book. For me, this is the best conclusion tthe this series could have had.

Some of the characters I fell in love with in the previous books, like Liadan, Finbar and Connor, are shown in a lot darker shades in this book: Darragh tells Fainne that he is willing to give up his original life to be with her. I already knew that Juliet Marillier has absolutely beautiful writing that creates a strong sense of place, but I still found myself in awe while reading this of how immersed I was into old Erin.

I think her own doubt about her nature gives her that groundedness, because her insecurities make her feel inadequate and as a result, she doesn’t trust those very otherworldly abilities that were almost taken for granted by Sorcha and Liadan. I think this book was at least as good as Daughter of the Forestalthough in a somewhat different way. Other books in the series.
