Despite his relatively late age Quine soon mastered the instrument. The primary focus of the book is on developing technique not simply for its own sake, but to improve technique as a means to further musical goals.
Note that this book is excellent for micromanagement of technique, by which I mean that it assumes basic knowledge of guitar technique, but is concerned most with the nuances of technique. The level of detail that Quine provides would be difficult to find outside of graduate school.
It’s very much like Strunk and White’s Elements of Style, but for guitarists. As the other reviews have stated, this is a fantastic book.
